Steven Lugerner Trio

Steven Lugerner brings his San Francisco-based trio to Stookey’s Blue Room for dynamic renditions of Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, and more — a Bay Area native the New York Times has called “an impeccably trained multi-reedist,” whose multiple critically acclaimed albums and collaborations with Fred Hersch, Taylor Eigsti, Albert “Tootie” Heath, Eric Harland, Anat Cohen, and Dayna Stephens have established him as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary jazz. The San Francisco Examiner puts it well: “Lugerner’s approach to making music is very much his own; and he seems to be pursuing it to impressive advantage.” As Director of Educational and Festival Programming at the Stanford Jazz Workshop and founder of Slow & Steady Records — a non-profit label dedicated to showcasing West Coast creative artists — Lugerner is as committed to the jazz community as he is to the music itself.
