Lara Louise and her band

Lara Louise and her band at Mr. Tipples features the Dutch-born vocalist alongside John R. Burr on piano, Erik Jekabson on trumpet, Gawain Mathews on guitar, Dan Feiszli on bass, and Brian Fishler on drums. 3421 Now a regular performer in the San Francisco Bay Area, Louise began in folk music before moving into jazz and bossa nova, singing primarily in English and French with a repertoire centered on the Great American Songbook of the 1930s through the ’60s. Her collaboration with Mathews retains their shared love of ’60s folk and pop, bringing that sensibility to interpretations of jazz standards and classic French songs; their albums range from the eclectic folk-and-jazz blend of Alone Together to the standards-focused Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars.
