John Palowich

John Palowitch brings his singular sound to The Deluxe — one of the Bay Area’s most sought-after saxophonists, this alto specialist runs his horn through guitar pedals to create a uniquely powerful blend of progressive R&B, hip-hop, and fusion. Raised in Pleasanton and schooled at the University of Miami Frost School of Music on a full scholarship, he recorded a Grammy-nominated album with Dave Grusin, Patti Austin, and Arturo Sandoval before earning a PhD in statistics and computer science. Now firmly rooted back in the Bay, he’s a regular with BIG TRIPPIN (led by Thomas Pridgen, formerly of The Mars Volta), Speakeasē, Collectivity, and Oakadelic, and has shared stages with Kassa Overall, Dwele, Wynton Marsalis, and McCoy Tyner among many others.
