Simon Aks Quartet

Simon Aks Quartet at Bird & Beckett  brings the young guitarist to the bookshop for one last Bay Area date before he returns to his studies at UCLA. A Ruth Asawa School of the Arts graduate who came up through the SFJAZZ High School All-Stars Big Band, the SFCM Roots, Jazz, and American Music ensemble, and the Brubeck Summer Jazz Institute, Aks splits his coursework between jazz guitar and electrical engineering. He’s joined by pianist Kevin Person, Jr., a jazz performance student at Fresno State who also teaches piano and gigs regularly across California, New York, and Nevada, plus bassist Alan Jones and drummer Miles Turk — both back at the shop after this month’s OHANA Collective date.
