Next Gen Jam with Dylan Acker Quartet

Next Gen Jazz Jam Session at Bird & Beckett hands the stage to students from Ruth Asawa School of the Arts for the bookshop’s monthly youth showcase, supported by Jazz in the Neighborhood. Trumpeter Dylan Acker, a RASOTA senior, leads a quartet featuring RASOTA graduate Dexter Dryg on guitar (headed to New York next), Nueva School bassist Julian Deery, and RASOTA drummer Amaru Duran. After their opening set, the quartet hosts a jam session open to their peers, part of a first-Sunday tradition that rotates through Bay Area high school and college jazz programs each month.
