Modern Jazz Hot Club brings a fresh and exhilarating reimagining of the gypsy jazz tradition to Stookey’s Blue Room — a guitar-driven ensemble that asks a fascinating question: how might Django Reinhardt have played the music that came after him? From the Django era and Brazilian master Pixinguinha all the way to Wayne Shorter and Chick Corea, their arrangements feature harmonized guitar lines, classic La Pompe styling, and high energy that keeps the spirit of Hot Club jazz vibrantly alive. Guitarists Kevan Smedt, Nelsen Hutchison, and Jordan Samuels weave together alongside bassist John Harris for an evening of swinging, boundary-crossing jazz that sounds both timeless and thrillingly new.
