Miles Turk brings a drummer’s deep soul and a polyglot musical fluency to The Deluxe, raised in Oakland and immersed in the Bay Area’s vibrant music community where funk, gospel, or jazz might pour out of a nearby radio at any given moment. Turk has absorbed a rich blend of cultures and genres — jazz, funk, gospel, R&B, Afrobeat, and Afro-Latin — and channels all of it into a percussive voice that is as rhythmically commanding as it is deeply human. Like jazz itself, Miles Turk’s musical identity is ever-evolving and continually taking shape, making every night at The Deluxe a chance to hear something genuinely alive.
