Kurt Ribak Trio

Kurt Ribak Trio at Bird & Beckett features the Berkeley bassist and composer, a Berklee graduate who sang with the San Francisco Boys’ Chorus before he found the bass and has four albums as a leader, most recently Onward. In 2012 a driver ran a stop sign and shattered Ribak’s left arm, costing him roughly a dozen surgeries across four years, and his recovery was never complete; he began writing songs and singing during the stretch when he couldn’t use his hands, and credits neighbors and fellow musicians with carrying him through — “it also takes a village for someone to heal.” He’s joined by saxophonist Lincoln Adler, who leads the band Times 4, and guitarist Scott Foster, a Bird & Beckett regular and a collaborator of Ribak’s for more than thirty years.
