Jazz Therapy Trio

The Jazz Therapy Trio brings three seasoned Bay Area musicians to Bird & Beckett for an evening of introspective, lyrical jazz. Pianist Ben Stolorow — praised by the SF Chronicle as “a pianist with a gift for crafting alluring melodies that cry out for lyrics” — leads the ensemble, drawing on studies with Fred Hersch and Stanley Cowell and performances from Yoshi’s to Japan. He’s joined by bassist Heshima Mark Williams, a native San Franciscan who has played with everyone from Taj Mahal and Albert King to Bobby Hutcherson and Eddie Henderson, and drummer David Rokeach, whose thirty-plus years include touring and recording with Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and Joe Henderson. Expect American Songbook standards, modern jazz classics, and Stolorow’s shapely originals — music for listening: thoughtful, melodic, and unhurried.
