Jaz Sawyer Quartet at Mr Tipples continues a musical tribute to John Coltrane’s centennial. Haight-Ashbury–raised drummer Jaz Sawyer leads James Mahone on saxophone, Maya Kronfield on piano, and David Ewell on bass through music that honors Coltrane’s restless creativity and spirit of improvisation. Sawyer has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center, and appears on more than 80 recordings as a leader and sideman.
