George Rogers Quartet

George Rogers Quartet at Bird & Beckett features the Bay Area-raised, New York-based saxophonist, composer and arts administrator who took first prize in the jazz division of the 2025 Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition. Rogers has performed at Dizzy’s Club, SFJAZZ, Nublu and the Concord, Vail and Charles River jazz festivals and shared stages with Wynton Marsalis, Gerald Cannon and Soweto Kinch, having studied with Gary Bartz, Justin Robinson, Dann Zinn and Mary Fettig. He writes for chamber ensembles as well: a 2024 Flint Initiative Grant produced Eight Vignettes for alto saxophone, premiered in early 2025, and the cello duo CAPACITY commissioned Precious Seconds, which combines notated and improvised forms. He comes home with pianist Graham Messer, bassist Aidan McCarthy and drummer Smith Dobson.
