Echo’s Bones + Evidence Trio

Echo’s Bones + Evidence Trio at Bird & Beckett pairs two Bay Area improvising groups for the Sunday happy hour, a night the bookshop bills as “Beckett greets Monk” — Echo’s Bones shares its name with the Samuel Beckett story that gave the shop half of its own. The all-winds trio is built around clarinetist and bass clarinetist Sheldon Brown, who has played with the Club Foot Orchestra and Anthony Braxton and tours with the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, joined by Amber Lamprecht on oboe, English horn, and alto flute — her credits run from Mark Eitzel to the San Luis Obispo Symphony — and Joseph Noble on flute, alto flute, and bass flute, a member of Cloud Shepherd and Ouroboros and the author of three books of poetry. The Evidence Trio takes its bearings, by its own account, from free jazz, dark ambient, and radio emissions from the early universe, with Kersti Abrams on alto saxophone, flute, and mbira, Michael Wilcox on electric bass, and Andrew Joron on theremin — also a surrealist poet whose collections include Trance Archive on City Lights, and a creative writing professor at San Francisco State.
