Dennis Mitcheltree Trio

Dennis Mitcheltree Trio at Bird & Beckett brings the Los Angeles tenor saxophonist and composer to Glen Park days after the release of Seeing Red, his eighth album as a leader. Mitcheltree spent two decades in New York and studied at Berklee with Joe Lovano, Billy Pierce and George Garzone; he has recorded or performed with Clark Terry, Billy Taylor, George Cables, Uri Caine and Ingrid Jensen, played on Janelle Monáe’s Grammy-nominated The Age of Pleasure, and premiered a suite for jazz sextet and string quartet at Carnegie Hall in 1995. He’s joined by bassist Jesse Crawford, who has played on four of his records, and drummer Bill McClellan, on a short Bay Area run that also takes in the Dawn Club, the Sound Room and Mr. Tipple’s.
