David Kikoski Jazz All-Star Quartet

David Kikoski’s Jazz All-Star Quartet at Black Cat brings the Grammy-nominated pianist to San Francisco for a three-night residency, backed by longtime collaborators he’s known since the early 1980s. Known for virtuosic technique and an innovative, deeply swinging style that blends bebop, post-bop, and contemporary jazz, Kikoski has performed and recorded across three decades with jazz legends including Roy Haynes, the Brecker Brothers, Pat Metheny, Chris Potter, and the Charles Mingus Big Band. He’s joined by saxophonist Ralph Moore and drummer Marvin “Smitty” Smith — both contemporaries from his Berklee College of Music days and Roy Haynes’ band, connections renewed on a 2025 European tour — plus bassist Rob Moreno, a rising presence on the Los Angeles scene recommended by Moore.
