Benito Gonzalez Trio

Benito Gonzalez Trio featuring drummer living legend Jeff “Tain” Watts at Black Cat brings the two-time Grammy-nominated pianist to San Francisco for a three-night run of propulsive, Afro-Latin-driven piano trio jazz. Gonzalez’s explosive sound draws on the influence of McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and Keith Jarrett, built from major runs with Kenny Garrett and Pharoah Sanders and work alongside Jackie McLean, Bobby Hutcherson, Christian McBride, Gary Bartz, and Azar Lawrence. He’s joined by legendary drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts, a Grammy winner behind Wynton Marsalis, the Branford Marsalis Quartet, and the Mingus Big Band.
