Angel Adedokun Quartet

Angel Adedokun at Bird & Beckett brings a bilingual vocalist who moves fluidly across rock, jazz, salsa, cumbia, pop, soul, and funk. Raised in Indianapolis, Adedokun joined the Latin company MundoBeat Entertainment at 17 and fronted the salsa band Grupo Bembé under the name Angelita, singing the songbooks of Héctor Lavoe, Celia Cruz, and Joe Arroyo, before relocating to the Bay Area in 2015; she released her debut EP in 2020 and is at work on a follow-up album, Love Letters to a Black Seed. She’s joined by guitarist Chanelle Ignant, an Oakland-based Next Jazz Legacy mentee of Meshell Ndegeocello who’s performed with Ndegeocello, Be Steadwell, and Adedokun herself across Bay Area stages including Yoshi’s and Freight & Salvage, alongside keyboardist Jelani Noble and drummer Michael Reed.
