Next Gen Jam w/ Lick-Wilmerding High School Jazz Ensemble
November 1 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free
Next Gen Jam at Bird & Beckett is the bookshop’s recurring Sunday-afternoon jam session, held the first Sunday of every month: a local youth band plays a set, then hosts a student-centred jam session open to their peers.
November’s host is the Lick-Wilmerding High School Jazz Ensemble — Lucas Yan on trumpet, Imane Moosa on tenor saxophone, Lyla Shapiro on alto saxophone, Oliver Save de Beaurecueil on electric violin, Armaan Mishra on piano, Saya Dominy on electric bass and Coleton Namie on drums. The bands are often fielded from Bay Area college and high school music programs; earlier editions have been hosted by groups from UC Berkeley and Bishop O’Dowd.
No charge to attend or play, with donations welcome, as part of the venue’s Sunday Happy Hour programming.
