Sweet Lew at The Deluxe features San Francisco vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Lewis Gallardo, whose intimate, palm-muted guitar style and emotive voice shape what he calls Chicano Southwest Soul. His songs address poverty, anti-capitalism, immigration, racism, heartbreak, food, and radical love with a direct, community-minded perspective; he has also led the San Francisco soul band Sweet Lew and the Sweet Lows. Expect a personal, groove-conscious set that blends contemporary singer-songwriter writing with Soul and R&B feeling.
