Sean “Mack” McDonald at Biscuits & Blues features the Augusta, Georgia–born guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose 2025 debut album Have Mercy! won the 2026 Blues Music Award for Best Emerging Artist Album. McDonald began on drums at age two, piano at three, and self-taught guitar at seven; he gained national attention at 15 when his performance of Robert Johnson’s “Dust My Broom” went viral. His polished but hard-swinging sound draws from the postwar Chicago and West Coast Blues of Bobby “Blue” Bland, T-Bone Walker, Louis Jordan, and early B.B. King, pairing deep-groove traditionalism with original songs and accomplished guitar work.
