Nilo Ayele and The NDL Band

Bay Area Brazilian ensemble The NDL Band (Namorados da Lua), fronted by Salvador, Bahia–born vocalist and percussionist Nilo Ayele, performs at Amélie on Polk Street. Presenting an acoustic-leaning configuration suited to the intimate French wine bar, the group draws from northeastern Brazilian folk and popular styles, including forró, samba, axé, and MPB (Música Popular Brasileira). The performance pairs layered Afro-Brazilian hand percussion with acoustic guitar, melodic basslines, and Portuguese-language vocal harmonies.
