Maurice Tani – The Sangoire Sets
August 9 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
$25
Maurice Tani at Bird & Beckett presents The Sangoire Sets, an evening of dark songs of romance from the San Francisco songwriter and guitarist behind Americana band 77 El Deora, leading a five-piece group. Tani’s playing career reaches back to the 1970s, when he was lead guitarist in Roy Loney & the Phantom Movers, the band Loney formed after leaving the Flamin’ Groovies; since the early 2000s he’s built a reputation as one of the region’s sharpest songwriters, writing noir-tinged narratives of organized crime, unrequited love, and the fashion industry that draw as readily on the Great American Songbook, jazz, and R&B as on country. He’s joined by English-born vocalist Pam Brandon, veteran pianist Henry Salvia, Greg Kehret on bass, and Kenny Owen on drums.
