Kai Lyons Trio at Mr. Tipples unites guitarist and tres player Kai Lyons with José Andrés “El Sinsonte” Rodríguez on vocals and percussion, and Dr. John Calloway on flute, piano, and percussion. The trio traces a vibrant path from the rural changüí and son traditions of Guantánamo to the improvisational language of jazz, blending Cuban guitar, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, traditional song forms, and contemporary cross-cultural interplay.
