Hillbillies on Halloween
October 31 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
$20
Hillbillies on Halloween at Bird & Beckett puts the Potrero Hillbillies on stage dressed as their favorite bands. The San Francisco trio takes its name from the Kinks’ Muswell Hillbillies and writes what the bookshop calls songs of ramshackle urban disjuncture — de-industrialization, rural life, and in Joe Cunningham’s suite “Michigan Winter,” his native Flint. Cunningham, in San Francisco since 1993, is also a nationally collected art quilter and the author of twelve books; Joshua Raoul Brody is a pianist, arranger and music director for BATS Improv who has played in the Club Foot Orchestra and Tango No. 9 and worked with Robin Williams and the Residents; Christopher Gray completes the trio.
