Deep Thicket Dwellers

Deep Thicket Dwellers at Bird & Beckett bring an Oakland string band whose members came west from Alaska and Virginia, playing what they call Hillbilly Jazz — bluegrass and old-time fiddle tunes crossed with gypsy jazz and a streak of John Hartford’s playfulness. Forrest Allen sings and plays fiddle and mandolin, Iggy sings and plays guitar, Tarah Williams sings and handles percussion, and Scotty Brown is on bass. Their live album, Live at Donna’s, is on Bandcamp, and they’ve played the bookshop before.
