São Paulo’s acclaimed Dani & Debora Gurgel Quarteto (DDG4) returns to Keys Jazz Bistro in North Beach, joining forces with special guests Sandy Cressman and Natalie Cressman to celebrate over a decade of cross-continental musical collaboration. The mother-daughter core of vocalist Dani Gurgel and pianist Debora Gurgel powers the ensemble’s high-octane samba-jazz sound, characterized by rapid-fire syncopated scat singing, intricate harmonic arrangements, and driving Brazilian rhythms alongside bassist Sidiel Vieira and Bay Area drummer Dillon Vado. With veteran Bay Area Brasilophile vocalist Sandy Cressman and acclaimed trombonist/vocalist Natalie Cressman (Trey Anastasio Band) expanding the lineup, the performance delivers an exhilarating fusion of modern MPB, rich vocal polyphony, and virtuosic jazz improvisation.
