Dahveed Behroozi Quartet at Mr. Tipples highlights the San José–born pianist and composer’s lyrical, colorful approach to modern jazz. A Manhattan School of Music graduate who studied jazz piano with Fred Hersch, and a Brooklyn College master’s graduate in classical piano under Ursula Oppens, Behroozi brings classical detail, American Songbook fluency, and open-ended improvisation into dialogue; he has performed and recorded with Thomas Morgan, Billy Mintz, Dayna Stephens, and other leading improvisers.
