Cosmic Pulse Quartet

Cosmic Pulse Quartet at Local Edition brings together four Bay Area players for a set billed as a jazzy fusion of Funk, Hardbop, Boogaloo, Brazilian Pop and NOLA style tunes. Tenor saxophonist Tod Dickow, who has appeared with Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Henderson, Bobby Hutcherson, and Dave Brubeck, is best known for Live at the Baked Potato!, his Michael Brecker tribute with Charged Particles; pianist Adam Shulman, a fixture of the San Francisco scene since 2002, has released four albums of original music, worked as a sideman with Stefon Harris, Miguel Zenón, and Bobby Hutcherson, and arranged for singer Paula West. They’re joined by bassist Ollie Dudek, a second-generation jazz bassist and California Jazz Conservatory graduate who has studied and performed in New Orleans, Cuba, and Brazil, and Mexico City–born drummer Omar Aran, who has recorded with Lila Downs and, since moving to the Bay Area in 2004, worked with Mark Levine and Michael Wolff.
