Charles Wheal

British-born guitarist and singer Charles Wheal takes the stage at The Deluxe for an afternoon set of traditional American roots and blues. After cutting his teeth in the historic blues clubs of Chicago and touring internationally for nearly a decade as the lead guitarist for harmonica virtuoso Mark Hummel and the Blues Survivors, Wheal has led his own Bay Area group since 2006. His performances feature a focused blend of vintage Chicago shuffles, Texas blues grooves, and swinging West Coast jump blues, backed by authentic guitar tones and seasoned bandstand craftsmanship.
