12 String Roulette at The Rite Spot is a regular fixture at the venue, bringing the San Francisco outfit’s self-described “Tin-pan Django-Classical” sound to the room — an ever-shifting blend of early Tin Pan Alley pop, Django Reinhardt-style gypsy jazz, and classical touches, built around a rotating wheel of members and genres, sometimes in smaller formations. Led by guitarist Julian Gross, the rotating lineup draws from a pool that includes vocalist Meredith Edgar, trumpeter Danny Cao, bassist Keenan O’Brien, and guitarists Mark Ignatius and Sam Barnum.
