Sweetie’s Art Bar is a welcoming, no-frills neighborhood staple tucked between North Beach and Telegraph Hill, equal parts gallery and lounge. Owned by artist and restaurateur Flicka McGurrin, it doubles as a rotating art space, with monthly exhibits lining the walls and giving each visit a slightly different feel. Inside, the room is clean and homey rather than divey offering a relaxed space where locals and visitors mingle over a reasonably priced drink, a chat at the bar, or a friendly game of pool.

A centerpiece of the calendar is First Friday (6:00 PM–9:00 PM), when new art openings are paired with three sets of live jazz from the Vince Lateano Trio. These nights pull in a loyal neighborhood crowd and create a street-corner buzz that spills out onto Francisco Street. On other evenings, the vibe stays easygoing and communal, with rotating shows, casual conversation, and an art-forward backdrop that feels more like a creative living room than a conventional bar.
