Nick Rossi is a San Francisco guitarist and bandleader whose work draws on the sound and repertoire of early jazz, swing, rhythm and blues, and vintage American popular music. Raised in Southern California, Rossi has spent more than three decades in San Francisco, where he first worked in the local R&B scene before leading his own projects. Since 2007, he has focused closely on the history and development of jazz guitar from the 1920s through the 1960s, bringing that research into performances with small ensembles including Nick Rossi and His Swing Four, the Swing Six, the Jazzopaters, and the Far West Jazz Band. Rossi also works as an educator and lecturer, with research and archival-release credits and teaching connections to Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Swing U and the Jazzschool.
