SUMMARY:Killer Whale w/ Charlie Millard Band
DESCRIPTION:CHARLIE MILLARD BAND (9:20PM – 11:20PM) \nFrom Northern Michigan\, featuring percussionist Will Harris\, Jercat Millard on guitars\, and Charlie on the keys/organ/Rhodes bass\, their Live performances have audiences raving about their refreshing Rock n Roll sound described as “small movies for the ears”. Their studio debut album ‘Pilot Boy’ was released in 2025 and their tour continues across the states and internationally. Come fly with the Charlie Millard Band. *Cinematic Rocknroll Originals\, like small movies for the ears! \nKILLER WHALE (11:30PM – 2:30AM) \nKiller Whale is an indie-soul and psychedelic rock band led by singer and songwriter Thomas Johnson\, originally from Baton Rouge\, Louisiana. The project is known for its laid-back\, “psychedelic pontoon soul” sound that blends influences from New Orleans funk\, San Francisco surf rock\, and 60s/70s folk. At the heart of mostly every song is a simple folk song\, but what varies greatly is the manner in which the artist chooses to present it. Johnson has been working on new material that explores the possibilities of his vision. His efforts to find unique and novel ways to present his writing have yielded refreshing results. One thing is clear from these recordings..Johnson has absolutely no interest in being a simple\, strumming balladeer. \nIn his new project Killer Whale\, Johnson is widening the sonic footprint of his sound. In the process\, he has taken a keen interest in recording methods and electronic instruments not commonly associated with folk music. Although guitar and vocals remain the heart of his songs\, Johnson’s new material incorporates digital and analog drum machines\, synthesizers and densely layered vocal effects.” \n$15 (ADVANCE TICKETS) / $20 at The Door Night of the Show

SUMMARY:Zoo Band
DESCRIPTION:There’s a certain kind of electricity that doesn’t come from wires and screens\, but from roaring musicians locked onto the same pulse\, bending time until the groove feels like it shakes the earth and could stretch forever. That’s Zoo Band.\nRooted in the Bay Area and built for the moment\, Zoo is a soul-drenched\, jam-powered collective where tight musicianship meets wild improvisation.  Larry “Zoo” commands keys and vocals with a storyteller’s instinct.  On guitar\, Jordan (of Too Pretty for Radio) threads and shreds.  Manny layers rich keyboard textures that form badass sonic landscapes.  Andy’s bass doesn’t just hold it down\, it’s Funky.  Jeff Dukes drives it all from the drums bangin’ precision fire beats.  Mike’s saxophone is pure soul energy.\nTogether\, they build from deep funk to cosmic jam\, from simmering soul to explosive peaks. SUMMARY:Piano night at The Royal Cuckoo Organ Lounge
DESCRIPTION:Piano nights at The Royal Cuckoo Organ Lounge are characterised by their early start times and the use of the venue’s vintage Steinway Upright piano\, which differs from the lounge’s typical focus on its prominent Hammond organ. \nPiano Monday shows start at 7:00 PM and typically run until 10:00 PM. \nCover Charge: There is never a cover charge for entry. However\, musicians often pass a donation basket\, so bringing a small amount of cash is recommended.

SUMMARY:Jerome Gillespie Jr. Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Drummer\, composer\, and bandleader Jerome Gillespie Jr. brings a deeply rooted yet forward-moving sound to his debut residency at Black Cat. Raised in Houston\, Texas and now based in New York City\, Gillespie’s playing blends the feeling of the church\, the fire of hard bop\, and a modern sense of storytelling—creating music that is as intentional as it is alive in the moment. A graduate of Manhattan School of Music\, the University of Iowa\, and The Juilliard School\, Gillespie has shared the stage with artists such as Vincent Herring\, Reggie Workman\, Mark Gross\, and Bobby Watson\, and has held the drum chair in multiple Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers tribute ensembles. That lineage is central to his approach: honoring tradition while pushing it forward with his own voice. Gillespie is no stranger to the Black Cat stage\, having previously performed here alongside pianist Joe Block with the Open Heart Trio and with tenor saxophonist Isaiah Collier. \nThose appearances offered a glimpse into his versatility—equally at home supporting\, shaping\, and driving the music from the bandstand. As a leader\, his music focuses on strong\, memorable ideas\, group chemistry\, and a sense of narrative that unfolds over time. This residency marks a new chapter—an opportunity to stretch out\, build with the band\, and invite listeners into a sound that grows deeper each night. \nBand Lineup: Jerome Gillespie Jr.\, drums Marvin Truong\, alto saxophone Wilfie Williams\, piano Marcos Varela\, bass
