He studied with pianist Edward Simon at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music from 2018 to 2022\, and subsequently spent two years in Tokyo before returning to the Bay Area in 2025. Along with musical influence from the countless great pianists of the jazz tradition\, Potter’s compositions take inspiration from nature\, meditation practice\, and language study.
